B4FA Week in Review – 16 April 2014

As part of the culmination of B4FA’s three-year programme, B4FA welcomed eighteen African journalists from our four focus countries – Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda – to London and Cambridge last week.  In addition, the leaders of thirteen projects funded by the John Templeton Foundation joined the journalists to discuss their projects that seek to answer the question “Can GM Crops Help to Feed the World?”

Read the full story of this excellent week and our event at the House of Lords.  Watch the opening addresses of Lord Ewen Cameron and Lord Paul Boateng on B4FA.org.

Don’t miss the latest addition to B4FA’s Viewpoints essays: “Will trade barriers prevent the adoption of GM crops in Africa?” by John Komen and David Wafula.

Congratulations to several B4FA Media Fellows who were recently awarded Uganda National Journalism Awards!  Winners included: Paschal Bagonza - Environment, Isaac Khisa - Business, Ronald Musoke  - National news + Agriculture, and Runner-up for Explanatory Reporting, and Runner-up Cliff Abenaitwe for Local Reporting.  Two B4FA Media Fellows were also shortlisted for the awards: Tyaba Abubaker for Agriculture and Florence Naluyimba for Features.  These were the inaugural awards.
